The past few years have highlighted the importance of self-reliance. Bushfires, floods, and lockdowns exposed just how dependent we’ve become on fragile supply chains.
What began as a lockdown project — learning to use an industrial sewing machine to make a swag for camping down by the creek — has grown into a workshop practice. Since then, these designs have been refined, tested, and used across remote parts of Australia.
The purpose of the Workshop Project is simple: to build our Australian-made capability and improve design and quality across the entire Remote Projects range by making gear ourselves.
Alongside limited releases, the workshop also supports repairs, repurposing, and ongoing experimentation — guided by our utility goods principles of functionality, durability, and use.
The Workshop collection comes at a premium. That reflects small production runs, local manufacturing, and fair pay for skilled machinists. Your support allows this work to continue and helps build a more self-sufficient, resilient way of making things locally.
Thank you for supporting Australian-made and the ongoing work of the Remote Projects Workshop.
Each Workshop Project is produced in limited runs and archived on completion, apart from core items such as swags and utility tarps, which are made on an ongoing basis.
